Aden on the banks of the Truckee River with your OTW for mid November 2024. Both the Truckee River and Pyramid Lake have been fishing well over the past week. We have a good sized storm impacting our region over the next few days that could make fly fishing difficulty. When things do come into shape; BWO both as nymphs and dry flies and streamers will be on the menu for the river and Indicator flies at the Lake.
Retreiving flies have been productive and should be handy out at the lake but with the wind in the forecast, an indicator rig might be much easier to manage.
This weather should clear up by the weekend. Until then hang on and try to stay dry.
When you are ready to venture out between systems try these suggest flies for either the Truckee River, Pyramid Lake.
Flies we suggest for the Truckee River: Ready Baetis, Micro Mayfly nymph, Miller’s Plus One, Spanish Bullet, Carot #16, Parachute Adams, Pullover BWO, Trout Beads (peachy king) and Peggz (clear)
Flies we suggest for Pyramid Lake: Balanced Leech (peacock and midnight), Jiggy Fat Minnow, Balanced Chub, Holographic Midge (ASB and Black/Copper), Pyramid Lake Bugger (midnight), Booby Fly (Dark Lord), Tadpole
