Stillwater Fly Fishing in Plumas National Forest with Brendan Landman
We're thrilled to announce that Reno Fly Shop is now offering guided stillwater fly fishing trips in a select number of reservoirs in the stunning Plumas National Forest!
Discover Stillwater Fly Fishing
For years, we've been helping anglers explore Northern Nevada's best streams and rivers. Now, we're expanding our guided trip offerings to include select reservoirs of Plumas National Forest—some of the Sierra Nevada's most productive stillwater fisheries.
What to Expect
Our stillwater trips target healthy populations of rainbow and brown trout using an 18’ center console boat guided by Brendan Landman. Brendan brings years of experience fly fishing in northern Nevada and California and has begun to offer guided boat trips on stillwaters in our region. Through Brendan we are offering a unique fly fishing experience that's perfect for anglers looking to:
-
Learn stillwater techniques including chironomid fishing, deepwater indicator rigs, and more
-
Experience the solitude and excitement of reservoirs surrounded by pines and high mountains.
-
Enjoy consistent action throughout the season, from ice-out through late fall
-
Escape the crowds and fish waters that see a fraction of the pressure compared to popular rivers and streams in our area

About Your Guide - Brendan Landman
Born in Zimbabwe, Brendan’s passion for fishing began at an early age under the guidance of his father. Together, they spent countless days chasing tiger fish, largemouth bass, and bream across the waters of his homeland. In the early 2000s, his family relocated to Northern California, where he discovered a whole new world of angling—targeting species such as striped bass, carp, and trout. Between fishing and playing sports, the outdoors played a major role in shaping his childhood.
Brendan moved to Reno to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Finance. It was during his first year of college that he made the switch from conventional tackle to fly fishing and never looked back. What started as a curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion.
After college, Brendan Landman pursued another passion in public service and became a full-time firefighter for the City of Reno. He's proud to serve his community in that capacity. On his days off, you'll find him outdoors: fly fishing local stillwaters and rivers, exploring new waters, and spending quality time with his wife and their two dogs, Honey and Leo.
Brendan is excited to be guiding for the Reno Fly Shop. He brings a unique blend of professional experience, strong interpersonal skills, and years of fishing knowledge to every trip. He believes that patience, work ethic, and clear communication are just as critical to a successful guided outing as technical skills on the water—qualities he strives to bring to every experience.
Whether you're new to fly fishing or looking to deepen your experience, Brendan Landman is excited to share the water and the passion with you.
