Our first Reno Fly Shop League was su much fun, we have scheduled a Fall League starting September 28.
Like many things that are done the first time we have realized somethings work and somethings don’t. We have learned that
- Scheduling on Saturday morning is much better for everyones schedule and the overall fishing.
- Fishing for 45 minutes can seem like a lot of time and not very much time simultaneously
- It is not over until the very last day. The leaderboard can change quickly.
- Spending some time with different anglers on different sections of river can be fun, informative and hugely educational.
By popularity we are expanding a bit. We are opening things up to 14 pre-registered anglers for 6 consectutive Saturdays starting Sept. 28. Can’t commit to all 6 days? No sweat, like before, we will accept drop-ins and casual observers.
Here are some details
When: Each Saturday morning starting September 28 through November 2 – 9/28, 10/05, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26 and 11/02. Each Saturday we will meet at the shop at 0730. Fishing starts about 0815.
Who: 14 anglers per week – preregistered anglers and drop-ins accepted
Where: 7 total beats. 7 fished weekly.
How: Random pairings are assigned each week. Each angler will get 45 minutes each session. Scoring on total inches of fish caught.

Why: Using the competitive format you will improve angling skills and meet new people. Cash prize for overall top finishers with a raffle each week sponsored by a gear manufacturers who we support here in the shop.
How Much: $50 pre-registration fee for priority access to all 6 weeks. Open spots weekly will become available as drop ins on a first-come basis at $12/week. ALL REGISTRATION FEES WILL GO TOWARDS CASH PRIZES.
This is going to be a fun, low key event that you will be able to improve your fishing skills while meeting new folks to fish with. In the spirit of keeping it friendly and open we have drawn up rules that will govern the 6 weeks.
