TRUCKEE RIVER CLEAN-UP DAY
Saturday September 21 we will be participating in the KTMB Truckee River Clean Up Day. This is a great event that we participate in every year. KTMB allows us to use our rafts to access the trash and litter that has accumulated in the channel over the past year. We need to ask the angling community to come out and help. The more hands the better. If you want to get involved here are some of the details. If you have a raft and would like to use it, please call the shop and speak to Jim by Wednesday, Sept. 18.
When: Saturday, Sept 21, 7:30am to 1:00pm
Where: Meet at the Reno Fly Shop. We will divide up into groups with one raft per group. The assigned reaches (more info below) will be in the Truckee Meadows bound upstream by Chrissie Caughlin and downstream by Cottonwood Park. We will break this entire reach into workable sections based upon the number of rafts we have.
How: Each raft group and assigned team will be given instructions, equipment and a reach at the shop before starting out. Groups will be asked to run their own shuttles but we can help with shuttles if necessary.
What volunteers need to bring: Volunteers will be exposed to cold water for an extended period. It is suggested that Waders and Boots be worn to protect legs and feet from injury and aid in keeping warm.
This is a great chance to help the Truckee River and give a bit back to our home river. Please reach out to us with questions and if you need more detail.
