Hope you enjoy this week’s On-the-Water Report from the Truckee River from Aden Breckner.
I just finished up the day and we had a pretty good day fishing a lot of Stoneflies. Those have started up just in the last 4 or 5 days here on the Nevada side. We’ve been getting out pretty early with the water temp being warmer. It has cooled off since our big Heat Wave a couple days ago. Now we are starting to see water temps come down a bit. The morning has been more productive, so getting out sometime in the morning is going to be your best bet.
As far as flies go, we fished a lot of TJ Hookers which has been my main pattern for me the last couple days. The streamer bite has picked up too. We really haven’t seen a whole lot of dry fly fishing, a lot of our hatches have started to slow down I am not seeing as many yellow Sally’s or PMDs. We are still seeing a few caddis but that too is starting to slow down. The trout are getting ready to have crayfish (Cray Z Emma) on the menu as temps stay high and water continues to warm. We do have availability on the guide calendar towards the end of the month. If you’d like to get out give us a call or stop by the shop.
Flies We Suggest: TJ Hooker, Emma Stone, Cray Z Emma, Carot, Jig TNT PMD, BH Krystal Caddis, Perdigon, Purple Haze, Elk Hair Caddis, Truckee River Selection
