The Sexy Hex Nymph is a fly used during the Hexagenia Mayfly hatch in the summer months! This is one of the largest mayflies in the world and is easy to spot given its bright yellow pigment. This is a favorite through June and July on Lake Almanor, Fall River, and other regional waters near Reno.
Fish this fly on a sinking line along the bottom of the water column prior to the hatch occurring. Typically, these are best fished in 15-30 feet of water near the bottom. This fly can also be suspended under an indicator as fish begin chasing Hex nymphs up through the water column.
