CASTING CLINIC/DEMO AND COMPETITION
We are excited to team up with a great local coffee spot to host a casting clinic, demo and low key competition. The Hub Coffee Roasters (on Riverside) will be the spot for our first casting competition. Starting at 8:30 we will have set up an area for you to try out some of the new ‘guns’ in the fly fishing world the best lines to pair with them. We will have some of the best fly casters in the area sharing their secrets and techniques.
At 11 we will put it all to the test. You will be able to choose two categories to compete in. The 8wt & Under will simply allow you three attempts to cast the farthest distance and to have the bragging rights as our areas biggest caster (and some great prizes). The 5wt & Under will have distance and an accuracy element.

WILD REVERENCE – THE WILD STEELHEAD’S LAST STAND
September 18 at the Imperial Bar and Lounge we will have the Reno premier of Shane Anderson’s new film. Our partners Patagonia, Wild Steelhead Coalition and others will be on hand to throw a great party. Doors open at 7 with raffles and prizes. The show starts at 8.
The movie tour organizers will have a formal press release coming out soon and we will forward that to all. We wanted to get this on your calendar so you don’t miss this premier event.
The Imperial is walking distance from the Shop in downtown Reno and will be the spot to find out more information and details. This is a free and all ages show. 21 and over only after the movie. Watch for more information in the coming days.
ROD BUILDING CLASS SCHEDULED (Sept 3rd, 10th and 17th)
This will be a class taught by our good friend Mark Mahaffey that will introduce you to building your own custom fly rod. A three installment class where you will be shown how to choose, assemble and finish your very own custom built rod. You don’t need experience and most tools/equipment. You will be required to pre-purchase or bring your hardware and blank. Ordering will take place during the first class. All three classes will be hosted at the Reno Fly Shop and will be limited to 4-5 students. The class will be $60+rod building supplies.

Sept 10 – 6:30 pm – Students will begin to assemble the rods and hardware.
Sept 17 – 6:30 pm – Students will finish the custom rods.
