The RFS Beginner Class will consist of:

  • Choosing the correct equipment
  • Basic knot tying
  • Casting Workshop
  • Basic dry fly and nymphing presentation
  • Introduction to entomology
  • Pattern selection
  • Trout Behavior
  • Safe approach to the water and 
  • Stream etiquette

In our Beginner Fly Fishing Class the RFS guide/instructor will work with you for 4 hours with an equal mix of classroom and on water time.

Description

Beginner Fly Fishing Class

Our beginner fly fishing class is built to get you ready for a fun summer of fly fishing. Your RFS instructor will show you the basic concepts and fundamentals of casting, knots and rigging, fly selection, entomology/hydrology and reading water to find fish. It is the goal of this curriculum to make you able to go out on your own and have the knowledge to be a self-sufficient angler. The 4 hour hands-on lesson allows enough time for student/interaction to answer questions and work through the more common beginning casting problems to be corrected.

Don’t worry if you do not have your own fly rod outfit. The Reno Fly Shop is ready to provide a free rental to anyone enrolled in our classes. The instructor will be prepared with cool drinks during the class. The only thing you will need to provide is a current NV fishing license.
