mid February 2019 | Pyramid Lake and the Truckee River | fly fishing report

Feb 14, 2019 | FISHING REPORT, Pyramid Lake, Reno Fly Shop, Truckee River

Things are starting to heat up on Pyramid Lake. Recent storms have brought the fish in close and while air temps have been cold water temps near the shore have been in the high 30’s and low 40’s each afternoon.

Anglers have been mixing success with stripping Boobies and fishing midge and balanced leeches under indcators.

While searching depths with a floating line the RIO Midge Tip fly line is a great way to have good connection to your flies and to vary retrieve rates to vary depths.

Flies we suggest: Cat Whisker Booby, Dirty Martini Booby, Spanish Olive Booby, Midnight Cowboy, Balanced Leech, Marabou Midge, Dragon Booby, Holo Midge, Pyramid Lake Beetle

Here is Mike Anderson’s most recent video report. Mike’s guide calendar has some space available towards the end of February when we anticipate things might really beginning heating up at the lake. Call today!
